Why Choose This Seed?
The Seed Birds Love
Peredovik is the classic black oil sunflower – the same high-oil seed that fills the best birdfeeders. Grow it yourself and finches, chickadees, cardinals and jays will line up for the ripe heads.
Bees First, Birds Second
All summer the big golden blooms are alive with bees and butterflies. Come fall the seed heads harden into a natural feeder that keeps feeding your yard long after the petals drop.
Tall, Cheerful & Easy
Plant it about 1/2 inch deep in full sun and stand back. Peredovik shoots up to 4-6 feet, shrugs off heat and lean soil, and blooms in roughly 90-100 days. One of the easiest flowers to grow from seed.
A Living Screen or Patch
Sow a row along a fence for a bright summer screen, or plant a block for a pollinator patch and grow-your-own bird plot. However you use it, it earns its space twice – flowers, then seed.
Pure, Non-GMO Seed
This is 100% Peredovik sunflower seed – no fillers, no GMOs. Just clean, single-variety seed that comes up reliably and feeds your whole backyard. Seed you can trust.
Prepare the Site
Pick a sunny spot with 6+ hours of direct sun. Clear weeds and loosen the top inch or two of soil. Peredovik isn’t picky and tolerates lean, dry ground, but a loose seedbed gets it off to a fast start.
Sow the Seeds
Wait until after your last frost and the soil has warmed. Plant seeds about 1/2 inch deep – space them 6-12 inches apart for big single heads, or scatter thicker for a dense stand and screen.
Grow
Seedlings emerge in about a week in warm soil, then climb quickly to 4-6 feet. Water until established; after that Peredovik is drought-tolerant. Blooms open in roughly 90-100 days.
Feed the Birds
Enjoy the blooms while bees work them, then leave the heads to ripen. As the seed hardens, birds do the harvesting – or cut a few heads to dry and save for your feeder.

Questions & Answers
Sow after your last spring frost, once the soil has warmed to about 60F. Plant seeds about 1/2 inch deep in full sun. They come up fast and grow to 4-6 feet, blooming in roughly 90-100 days.
We suggest about 1 lb per 2,000 sq ft for a full stand. The 0.25 lb bag covers about 500 sq ft, 0.5 lb about 1,000 sq ft, and 1 lb about 2,000 sq ft. Space them wider for big single heads, or sow thick for a living screen.
Yes. Peredovik wants full sun – 6 or more hours a day – to grow tall and set heavy seed heads. It’s not fussy about soil and tolerates dry, lean ground once established.
The golden blooms feed bees and butterflies all summer. As the heads ripen, finches, chickadees, cardinals and jays move in for the seed – the very same black oil seed you’d buy for a feeder, straight off the plant.
Peredovik reaches 4-6 feet on a single sturdy stalk. Sow a row along a fence for a cheerful summer screen, or plant in blocks for a pollinator patch or a grow-your-own bird plot.
It’s 100% Peredovik black oil sunflower, a conventional non-GMO variety with no fillers. It’s the oilseed type grown for birds and oil – the small black seeds are a wildlife favorite. For snacking, the larger striped confection types are the usual choice.
