Venus penstemon is a perennial wildflower native to the American West, especially within the Rocky Mountains. It is known for its bright lavender to purple trumpet-shaped flowers that grow on stiff, tall stems. Reaching up to 36 inches tall, Venus penstemon is a very showy wildflower that is great for garden beds, rock gardens, or prairie plantings. Its bright blossoms attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. Once established, it has low water requirements and is fairly drought tolerant. Prefers full sun and well-drained soil. Widely used in restoration efforts and wildlife habitat enhancement projects.
