Winterfat is a small to medium spreading evergreen half shrub adapted to all soil textures on flats, slopes, and ridges. Native to the US, it is adapted to high elevations and thrives in elevations of up to 10,000 ft. Although intolerant of high water tables or acid soils, it can tolerate freezing temperatures. Extremely palatable to all classes of livestock and wildlife. Reliable source of protein and winter forage.
