Fowl Manna Grass

Glyceria striata, commonly known as fowl manna grass, is a perennial grass reaching heights of 2 to 3 1/2 feet. Its blooming period spans from early to mid-summer, adding a touch of seasonal charm to wet to mesic environments. Thriving in full sun to light shade, it prefers fertile loamy soil, making it an adaptable choice for various landscapes. Fowl manna grass boasts palatability to cattle, sheep, and horses, serving as a valuable forage option. While it may form colonies and provide some cover for wildlife, its appearance is rather ordinary, with small spikelets that superficially resemble oversized bluegrass.
