Slender wheatgrass is a cool-season perennial bunchgrass native to the Intermountain West. Excellent first-year seeding vigor, but tends to be short-lived. It’s beneficial in soil stabilization and erosion control projects. Also provides good quality forage and hay. Slender wheatgrass can grow up to three feet tall and prefers loamy soils. Tolerant of shady, moist areas with high salinity. It can be grown without irrigation in areas receiving at least 14 inches of annual rainfall.
