Scientific Name: Gilia capitata
This annual wildflower is native to the western United States, but has been introduced in many eastern locations as well. It produces fern-like foliage and a dense flower head of white, light-blue or violet. Blooms from April to July. Globe gilia can grow up to three feet tall and prefers sandy, rocky soils in full sun. Drought tolerant and very easy to establish. Great for rock gardens, mass plantings and containers.
