Scientific Name: Acmispon glaber
Native to California, this shrub-like perennial legume grows delightful yellow flowers that provide food for butterfly larvae, deer, bees, hummingbirds, and other pollinators. It blooms from March through August and is very water-efficient and fire-resistant. It can grow up to 3 feet tall and is known for germinating fairly quickly. Great for erosion control, revegetation, post-fire mitigation, and habitat restoration. Butterfly species such as the Chalcedon Checkerwing, particularly love the nectar provided by this pollinator plant.
