Trifolium repens (Ladino variety) – A taller white clover excellent for cover crops and pastures. White Ladino clover reaches about 12″ tall with large, fragrant white blossoms. It spreads quickly, making it ideal for erosion control and groundcover. Bees and wildlife love the big blooms, and as the plants die back they leave rich organic matter in the soil. This clover thrives in well-drained, moist soils and is very easy to grow. Farmers often plant it alone or mix it with grasses (like ryegrass or orchardgrass) in pastures or food plots, because it establishes rapidly each year. .

High growth & blooms

Tall clover (to ~12″) that produces abundant large white flowers – great for bees.

Cover crop & forage

Spreads rapidly to cover soil, making it a perfect cover crop or forage. Provides protein-rich forage for livestock and wildlife.

Soil enhancer

Naturally enriches the soil as a green manure. Leaves behind nitrogen and organic material when it dies back

Bee-friendly & erosion control

Listed as “Bee Friendly” and “Erosion Control”, it anchors the soil on slopes and slopes and encourages beneficial insects.

Water needs

Prefers moist soil and full sun. Because of its shallow roots, Ladino clover tolerates less drought than low-growing clovers; supplemental moisture in dry seasons is recommended.

Trifolium repens (Dutch variety) – A low-growing white clover ideal for lawns and pasture mixes. White Dutch clover matures in ~8–12 weeks and forms a lush groundcover about 4–8″ tall. It fixes atmospheric nitrogen into the soil, improving fertility naturally. Because it is drought-tolerant and hardy, it stays green even when grass browns, making lawns more resilient. Its small white blossoms (and sometimes lucky four-leaf clovers) attract bees and beneficial insects, while its dense carpet keeps weeds at bay. White Dutch clover is very versatile: use it in turf mixes, as a green manure, or for soil erosion control.

Perennial groundcover

Grows 4–8″ high, thriving in full sun to partial shade. Rapid germination means quick establishment.

Natural nitrogen source

Enriches lawns by fixing nitrogen in the root nodules. Reduces or eliminates fertilizer needs.

Bee & pest friendly

Fragrant white flowers bloom in spring/summer, feeding bees and butterflies. Attracts ladybugs, lacewings, and other insects that prey on garden pests.

Weed suppressor

A thick mat of clover crowds out weeds. Roots and low-growing habit smother broadleaf weeds naturally.

Wear-tolerant

Stands up to foot traffic and pet activity. Clover actually resists dog urine spots, so lawns stay green.

Drought-tolerant

Deep roots allow it to survive dry spells. Once roots are established, clover often needs little extra watering to stay green.

Trifolium repens var. Pipolina (dwarf Dutch white clover) – A miniature clover bred for lawns. Microclover is a dwarf variety of white clover, only 3–6″ tall with very small leaves. It looks uniform and “no-mow” when mixed into grass. Unlike regular white clover, microclover does not grow in big clumps or take over the lawn. It continuously supplies nitrogen as it grows and even from decomposing clippings, so grass stays greener with less fertilizer. Because of its tiny leaves and slow growth, you can mow a microclover lawn less often (often only after it blooms) and still maintain a tidy look.

Dwarf, uniform habit

Grows just 3–6″ tall, blending smoothly with turf. Tiny leaves resist wear and tear from pets and foot traffic. Maintains a soft, even lawn without brown patches.

Nitrogen-producing

Like all clovers, fixes nitrogen. Studies show turf with microclover can need one fewer fertilizer application than grass alone. Decomposing clippings add nutrients and aerate soil pores.

Pollinator & beneficial-insect friendly

Small white flowers bloom in early summer and feed bees. Microclover also attracts ladybugs, lacewings, and other natural predators that control pests.

Weed reduction

Spreads densely and crowds out weeds naturally. You’ll see far fewer dandelions and crabgrass in a clover-rich lawn.

Water-wise & low maintenance

Microclover’s deep roots give extra drought tolerance over pure grass. It stays greener with less water and only needs mowing every 4–6 weeks (or less if you’re happy with the wildflower look).

Easy care

Slow growth and high density mean fewer clippings and less work. It tolerates mowing down to 3″, so the lawn stays neat without scalping.

Uses & Applications

Lawns

Add clover to turfgrass seed or overseed an existing lawn. The result is a soft, springy lawn that stays green with minimal fertilization.

Pollinator gardens

Clover is a top choice for bee gardens – its nectar-rich flowers feed pollinators for weeks.

Pastures & forage

Mix clover into grass pastures to boost livestock nutrition. Our white Ladino clover, for example, provides high-protein forage and thrives when mixed with ryegrass or orchardgrass.

Cover crops/green manure

Farmers plant clover after harvest or in fallow fields. As a cover crop it protects soil and “grows the farm” by adding nitrogen and organic matter when turned under.

Erosion control & xeroscaping

Clover’s spreading roots hold soil on banks and slopes. Its drought resistance makes it excellent for water-wise (xeriscape) landscaping – even in dry climates clover will form green cover with little irrigation.

Other Uses

Clover seeds can be used anywhere you want a hardy, green groundcover or cover crop.

Natural Fertilizer

Our high-quality clover seeds are an eco-friendly choice for lawns, gardens, and pastures. Clover (a legume) builds soil health by fixing atmospheric nitrogen into the earth, reducing or even eliminating the need for synthetic fertilizer. Once established, clover forms a dense green mat of foliage with small white blooms that attract bees and other pollinators. It also suppresses weeds, shades the soil, and tolerates drought and pet traffic better than turf grass. In short, adding clover seed to your land can save time and money: your lawn fertilizes itself, stays greener in heat or shade, and requires less mowing or watering.

  • Natural fertilizer: Clover’s root nodules host nitrogen-fixing bacteria, converting air into usable nitrogen. As Nature’s Seed and other growers note, clover delivers “free fertilizer” to the lawn all season, so grass needs little or no added nitrogen.
  • Pollinator-friendly: The long-blooming white flowers of clover are a favorite nectar source for honeybees, bumblebees, butterflies and other beneficial insects. Planting clover supports a healthy ecosystem and helps gardens thrive.
  • Weed & erosion control: A dense stand of clover crowds out weeds and acts like a living mulch. As it spreads, clover covers bare soil and prevents erosion by wind and rain. Its fibrous root system aerates compacted soil, improves texture, and reduces the need for herbicides.
  • Low maintenance & drought-tolerant: Clover stays lush longer through heat and drought. Its deep, fibrous roots draw moisture from below the surface, so once established it often requires little to no extra irrigation. Because clover grows low to the ground, it needs less mowing, and it resists wear (even dog urine) better than most turf grasses.
  • Shade & poor soil tolerant: Clover is resilient. It will grow in places where grass struggles – thin shade, compacted clay, or poor drainage. On such spots, clover remains green and vigorous, helping beautify and stabilize the area with minimal care.

Choose Nature’s Seed clover seeds

to create a lush, low-input landscape. Our clovers enrich your soil, support wildlife, and give you a beautiful green cover without constant work. Whether you’re a homeowner, farmer, or landscaper, adding white or micro clover seed is a smart way to improve soil, reduce upkeep, and help the environment – all with a friendly, natural-looking groundcover.
